Beaches & Coves on Ibiza
The Most Beautiful Beaches & Coves: Discover Ibiza
Ibiza offers an impressive selection of coves and beaches. From secluded, rocky coves to wide sandy beaches with beach clubs and restaurants. Each cove has its own character: some are family-friendly, some are sophisticated, and some are quiet and unspoiled. So you will always find exactly the right place to suit your personal Ibiza feeling.
In the North of Ibiza: from Cala Benirrás to Cala Xarraca
Cala Benirrás Cala Benirrás is a small bay on the Spanish island of Ibiza. It has become a well-known and extremely popular destination, known for its breathtaking nature, relaxed atmosphere and unique experiences. The turquoise-colored and clear water, mixed with sand and pebbles, invites you to sunbathe and swim. Snorkeling fans can discover a lot here. In the past the Cala Benirrás was reserved for the locals, the hippies and drummers. Only a few tourists were here when the sun went down and the laid-back Ibiza was celebrated, or simply didn’t dare to go. We were able to experience and feel this wonderful time ourselves, for which we are very grateful. Over the last 20 years, these Sunday evenings have unfortunately become so legendary that this wonderful bay can only be reached by shuttle bus in high summer. Local gastronomy is available on the beach.
Cala Sant Miguel Cala Sant Miguel is a beautiful cove on the north coast of Ibiza, near the village of Sant Miquel de Balansat. This area is known for its natural beauty, tranquil atmosphere and offers a relaxing alternative to the busier beaches and towns on the island. There are also several restaurants and beach bars in the bay that offer a selection of local and international dishes. It is worth trying fresh fish and fresh seafood here.
Portinax The picturesque village of Portinax with its small beaches and bays is an ideal place for families, couples and all those who love snorkeling.
Here is a brief overview: • S’Arenal Gros: The largest beach in Portinatx, with soft sand and shallow water, ideal for families with children. There are also parasols, sun loungers and some water sports on offer. • S’Arenal Petit: A smaller, more intimate beach nearby, with a similar landscape, but often a little less crowded. • Playa Porto: Another small beach in Portinatx, which is often quieter and offers a relaxed atmosphere. • Cala Xarraca: Cala Xarraca is located near Portinatx and is known for its picturesque beauty and excellent snorkeling conditions. The beach is surrounded by a rocky coastline and offers clear, turquoise waters.
In the East of Ibiza - from Cala Boix to Cala Llonga
Es Pou des Lleó Es Pou des Lleó, a small, not very busy beach with a length of about 60 meters and a width of only about 12 meters, which is very popular with the locals. The beach consists of coarse sand and is rather rocky overall. Rocks and fishermen’s huts protect this natural bay with its smaller and larger rocks and nooks and crannies, where many bathers look for a spot to sunbathe or go skinny-dipping. The beach is also very popular for snorkeling due to the local conditions.
Cala Boix To the Cala Boix You can only reach the beach via a staircase about 100 meters long, which leads from the parking lot above down to the beach. This small but beautiful beach is therefore not suitable for people with limited mobility. It is a beach for lovers of peace and relaxation. Cala Boix is also home to some very popular local restaurants, such as the Restaurante Cala Boix with its Mediterranean, Ibizan cuisine . Fishermen’s huts protect this natural bay with its smaller and larger rocks and nooks and crannies, where many bathers look for a spot to sunbathe or go skinny-dipping. The beach is also very popular for snorkeling due to the local conditions.
Aguas Blancas The beach of Aguas Blancas (also known as Aigües Blanques in Ibiza) is one of the most beautiful natural beaches on the northeast coast of Ibiza with impressive cliffs and clear, turquoise waters. Unfortunately, the beach is losing more and more of its width due to stormy weather conditions. Nevertheless, this small natural beach is popular with Ibizenkos/Ibizenkas and tourists alike who are looking for an unspoiled, authentic beach away from the crowds and want to swim and sunbathe naked from time to time.
Cala Nova The Cala Nova (Cala Nova) is a small beach about 250 meters long and about 40 meters wide. Of course, these figures always vary greatly depending on the weather conditions in winter. Sometimes the beach becomes a little smaller because storms erode the sand. Two steep cliffs and a small pine forest flank and surround this bay, giving it a special scenic charm. As soon as there is wind, you can see the local surfers here, as this beach is one of the most popular beaches for surfers on Ibiza. The gently sloping seabed is wonderful and very pleasant and safe to walk into. You can reach the beach of Cala Nova via a paved road from Es Canar, in the direction of BLESS Hotel Ibiza, Avenida Cala Nova. Another 5-star hotel located directly on the beach of Cala Nova.
Cala Llenya The Cala Llenya is a very beautiful and wide sandy beach with a sandy seabed and only a few small rocks interspersed. The shallow water makes it a perfect beach for families with children who just want to splash around or practise their first swimming exercises. In addition to this there is the Cala Llenya numerous sun loungers and parasols for hire. There is a kiosk with hot and cold food, drinks, ice cream and sweets.
Cala Martina, Cala Pada, Es Niu Blau & Cala Llonga These are beaches that are particularly popular with families, as they are close to tourist resorts and can therefore be reached on foot without having to hire a car. All beaches have sun loungers and parasols for hire as well as small restaurants or kiosks.
In the South of Ibiza - from Ses Salines to Cala Jondal
Ses Salines
Playa de las Salinasalso called Ses Salinesis considered one of the most beautiful, best known and most popular beaches on Ibiza. Ses Salines is the beach for sunbathing and chilling out. Surrounded by small dunes and pine forests, with many good beach bars and restaurants Ses Salinas offers a perfect mix of sun worshippers, party-goers and families. The parking fee is currently EUR 7 for a car (as of 08.2025). Ses Salines is also easily accessible by taxi or bus.
Cala Jondal
Cala Jondal is one of the most popular beaches on Ibiza . The Cala Jondal combines luxury, good food and music all in one. This mixture makes the beach so special and is very popular with celebrities, VIPs, etc. Lifestyle and luxury are shown and lived at Blue Marlin Ibiza: this beach club magically attracts guests from all over the world and it is a popular place for all those who take their daytime parties with bikini & co. into the night. In addition to the Blue Marlin Ibiza, the Tropicana Beach Club and the Yemanjá Restaurant are also located on Cala Jondal .
In the West of Ibiza - Beaches & Coves for the Perfect Sunset
Cala Tarida & Cala Vadella The Cala Tarida as well as the Cala Vadella are very popular, family-friendly beaches with shallow water and a wide range of leisure activities for young and old. Both beaches are surrounded by numerous bars and restaurants as well as hotel complexes, holiday apartments and holiday homes. The two sandy beaches Cala Tarida and Cala Vadella are south-west facing. This means you can enjoy the sun and splash around in the water with your family all day long. Families with small children as well as teenagers will get their money’s worth here.
Cala D’Hort On the beach of Cala D’Hort you can not only enjoy the fascinating view of the mystical rock Es Vedrà while swimming, but also enjoy fresh fish in the popular El Carmen restaurant. Impressive sunsets can also be experienced here.
Cala Conta (Platjes de Comte) The Cala Conta consists of several small bays with fine sand and clear, turquoise water. The view of the offshore islands and the breathtaking sunsets make this beach a must-see. Accordingly, this beach is also very crowded at sunset. Cala Bassa The popular beach Cala Bassa is surrounded by fragrant pine forests, with soft sand and shallow, clear water. Cala Bassa is ideal for families and water sports enthusiasts.
Cala Gracioneta The Cala Gracioneta is a small bay close to the town and the tourist stronghold of San Antonio. Nevertheless, this bay is known for its tranquil atmosphere and turquoise waters. Cala Gracioneta is ideal for a relaxing day by the sea for those who have their hotel or vacation apartment nearby.
Cala Salada A bay for nature lovers: this is the Cala Salada. Pine trees and rocks with clear, turquoise water characterize this bay and make it so popular with insiders. This bay is less suitable for families with children.
NIGHTLIFE IN IBIZA
Ibiza pulsates day and night
Nothing is as well known as Ibiza and its world-famous clubs: from the past, for example, the former SPACE, EL DIVINO, which was the largest club in the world at the time, and Privilege with its infamous Manomission Show, which, after its renovation and reopening in June 2025, has become the new and world's first hyperclub [UNVRS]. Ibiza is known for its vibrant nightlife and is more than famous for its glamorous and always tolerant atmosphere.
